Access our services whenever, wherever

We want to make mental health care accessible for all Australians. You do not need a referral to get started, though you may be eligible for funding or rebates if you have one. We’ve detailed the different ways you can access our services below, or you can talk to our friendly team about your options. Simply phone 1300 SUREWAY or email us at reception@surewayhealthwellbeing.com.au

Medicare rebate for counselling session

Medicare

You may be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for some types of counselling sessions under the Australian’s Government’s Better Access to Mental Health Care Program.

This initiative provides financial rebates to eligible people, and reduces the overall cost to you, so you can access the services you need. Medicare rebates are available for both telehealth and in-clinic sessions conducted by a Clinical Psychologist, Registered Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker or Counsellor.

Under the program, you can receive a rebate for up to 10 Medicare counselling sessions, and up to 10 allied mental health services, every year. You will regularly check in with your referring practitioner to review how you are progressing with your treatment.

To access a Medicare rebate, you must have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and be referred to Sureway Health and Wellbeing by your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician.

We recommend that you speak with your treating professional about your eligibility.

  1. Book a double appointment with your GP and speak about obtaining a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
  2. During your appointment, ask your GP to refer you to Sureway Health and Wellbeing.
  3. Provide a copy of your referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan to Sureway Health and Wellbeing prior to your first appointment.

Private Appointments

Everyone can access our psychology and counselling services without a referral. This includes adults, children, adolescents and couples.

There is no limit to the number of sessions that you can access as a private client. No matter the area of your concerns or struggles, it is never too minor and it is never too late to get help. Our team welcome your self-referral.

Please note that Medicare rebates are not available for self-referred clients or for couples counselling.

A self-referral can be completed simply and easily online just complete our referral form. Our friendly team will be in touch with you to match you to a treating professional and book your first appointment.

Depending on your individual policy, you may be entitled to claim rebates for psychology and counselling services from your Private Health Insurance Fund. Every policy is different, and we recommend that you check with your health fund ahead of your first appointment with Sureway.

Private Health rebates generally cannot be claimed in conjunction with Medicare rebates.

  1. Contact your Private Health Insurance Fund to discuss your policy and extras
  2. Check that your fund recognises Sureway Health and Wellbeing (ABN 76 664 220 357) as an approved provider.
  3. Complete a self-referral simply and easily online. Our friendly team will be in touch with you to match you to a treating professional and book your first appointment.
  4. Following your appointment, we will provide you with a receipt to process your claim.

Workers’ Compensation

Workers’ Compensation is a type of insurance that employers must hold under Australian law to cover their workers in the event that they get sick or injured in the course of work. Workers’ Compensation may cover some or all of the costs of your treatment, based on your individual case.

The number of sessions you can access is based on your individual case.

Our team will work collaboratively with you and any relevant parties to your claim to support your rehabilitation and return to the workplace.

To access psychological treatment under your Workers’ Compensation claim, psychological intervention must be recommended as part of your Treatment Plan documented on the Certificate of Capacity.

If you are unsure, our friendly team can assist you with reviewing your eligibility.
